July 22, 2021

As of competition year 2022, NSERC’s Discovery Accelerator Supplements (DAS) program is suspended until further notice. Although no new DAS awards will be made, ongoing DAS awards will continue to be honored.

NSERC’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has focused on stabilizing the community and lessening the impact due to COVID-19 by providing highly effective and equitable support for the research community in meeting the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic. NSERC has made significant investments in additional support to researchers and highly qualified personnel through timely initiatives, such as the funded one-year extension for Discovery Grants and additional support to NSERC-funded graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. For the time-being, re-directing the DAS budget into sustaining and strengthening NSERC’s direct investments in Discovery research and training awards will best enable these commitments to be achieved.

NSERC will continue to monitor and assess the future role and objectives of the DAS program as it relates to NSERC’s commitment to funding excellence in discovery research and training.
