The College and Community Innovation (CCI) program’s College and Community Social Innovation Fund (CCSIF) grants 2024 competition, managed by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, in collaboration with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, is now open.
CCSIF proposals should facilitate collaborative and innovative research that brings together researchers, students and partners to address challenges in community innovation in the social sciences, humanities, health sciences, natural sciences and engineering research fields. The CCSIF program enables colleges to increase their capacity to work with communities, with the goal of developing partnerships that foster community innovation in areas such as the integration of vulnerable populations, community development, education and training, climate change, environmental degradation, as well as health and well-being.
CCSIF applicants may request up to $120,000 per year for one to three years. As a result of the investment in the CCI program announced in the 2023 federal budget, the budget envelope for the 2024 College and Community Social Innovation Fund (CCSIF) grants competition will be increased by $3 million, for a total of $6 million in funding available.
Applications must be submitted via the Convergence Portal by March 1, 2024 before 8:00 pm (Eastern Time). Please read the CCSIF grants description for more information. There is a maximum of five applications per institution.
Joint funding opportunities
To help larger projects or support additional students, colleges may request joint funding with other opportunities as part of their CCSIF application, if relevant. Applicants are invited to include a request for additional support through Mitacs Accelerate internships as a component of the training of highly qualified personnel (HQP), and through the Canada Council for the Arts for colleges partnering with arts organizations, groups or collectives that are eligible to receive Canada Council grants. Please consult the CCSIF grants description for more information about these joint funding opportunities.
